Radiofrequency Micro-needling (RF micro-needling) is a highly effective treatment that uses very small needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate skin. RF treatment is a form of controlled skin injury and the damage stimulates the growth of healthy new skin. The RF energy heats up the underlying layers of skin, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of elastin and collagen production. Skin issues like acne scars and wrinkles can benefit a lot from RF micro-needling.
RF micro-needling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional micro-needling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via tiny needles into the dermis. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the traditional microneedles, RF micro-needling also delivers RF energy into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. Radiofrequency is energy that is delivered deep into the skin and heats it strongly, thus stimulating the natural processes of skin regeneration and reconstruction.
Skin problems treated with RF microneedling:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Acne scars
- Reduced skin elasticity
- Strech marks
- Large pores
- Scars from surgery or injuries
- Loose, sagging skin, reduced skin elasticity
- Hyperpigmentation, age spots
- Cellulite
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Aftercare instructions (after RF microneedling treatment):
You will most likely experience some redness and skin irritation for around 5 days following your RF microneedling treatment. Most people are able to go back to work or normal everyday activities the very next day. As there will likely be some redness and skin irritation, you need to avoid applying too many products to your face as it could lead to further irritation. Furthermore, you should avoid applying any alcohol-based products or exfoliants and avoid direct sun exposure as well, which can be supported through the use of an appropriate SPF sun lotion or cream. Until your skin has not fully healed, try to avoid any rigorous activity that can cause excessive sweating e.g. exercising or running.
