Botox injections, or botulinum toxin, are one of the most effective treatments for reducing wrinkles. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve conduction because it is a neurotoxin. The effect is to relax the muscles and temporarily lose their ability to contract and consequently wrinkle the skin. Only the muscle group that was injected with Botox loses its ability to contract. The remaining muscles work unchangingly.
Botox treatments smooth out facial wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. In the case of excessive sweating, Botox blocks the nerves endings responsible for sweat secretion. Botox treatments have been commonly performed for many years and are a safe procedure provided that they are performed by an appropriate specialist.

Procedure:
The procedure takes about 15 minutes depending on the area. We start by disinfecting the skin and marking the injection sites. Then the Botox preparation is injected using a very thin needle. The Botox procedure is not very painful, so it does not require anesthesia. People who are very sensitive to pain can use local anesthesia in the form of a cream, which is applied 30 minutes before the procedure.
Botox treatment effects:
The first results of the procedure are visible after 2-3 days, although sometimes even the next day. After about 2 weeks, the full effect of the procedure is visible. Wrinkles are smoothed out gradually. Regular use of Botox therapy allows not only to smooth out existing wrinkles but also prevents the occurrence of new ones because facial expression is reduced and the face looks smoother. The doses of Botox used are minimal, therefore its effect is local, on a specific muscle group. The remaining muscles function as usual, and the face, despite reduced facial expressions, looks natural.
How long does the effect of Botox last?
The duration of this substance depends on many factors, mainly on the patient’s individual predispositions and lifestyle. In most cases, we observe the effect for 3-6 months, and sometimes even up to 10 months. The muscle gradually regains the ability to contract, which leads to the gradual return of facial expressions. Frequent use of the sauna, sunbathing, heating the area subjected to the procedure affect the shorter duration of the effects.
Recommendations after the procedure:
- For about 4 hours after the procedure, do not bend or lie down.
You cannot massage or press the area subjected to the procedure.
You should not fly for 48 hours. - For the next few days, you should avoid intense physical activity, using a sauna, solarium and swimming pool.
- You should not perform treatments using radio waves or laser for the next few weeks because they can weaken the effect of Botox.
